Ans- The bear grew up but “he was a most amiable bear”.  This can be proved with following facts:

1.   He did not dream of harming anybody, man or beast. He used to sit outside his kennel and look with his small intelligent eyes most amicably at the cattle grazing in the field nearby.

2.   The children used to ride on his back and had more than once been found asleep in his kennel between his two paws

3.   The three dogs loved to play all sorts of games with him, pull his ears and his stump of a tail and tease him in every way, but he did not mind it in the least.

Ans- The bear ate the same food as the dogs— bread, porridge, potato, cabbage, turnip. He had never tasted meat.

Ans- The bear was not allowed to accompany the mistress to her sister’s house because the house was on the other side of the mountain-lake. It was not safe for the bear to wander about the forest and also, he was a bad sailor.

 

Q. 9 What happened one Sunday when the lady was going to her sister’s house? What did the lady do? What was the bear’s reaction?

Ans- One Sunday when the lady was going to her sister’s house, the bear joined her panting and sniffing.  The lady got angry and asked him to return at once. She had hit him on nose with parasol.

          The bear turned around and began to shuffle back the way he had come.

 

Q.10 Why was the bear looking sorry for himself in the evening? Why did the cook get angry with her mistress?

Ans- The bear was looking sorry for himself in the evening because he was sitting at his usual place for long waiting for the mistress.

          The cook got angry with her mistress because she scolded the bear not knowing that he had been sitting there quite still on his haunches as meek as an angel, looking the whole time towards the gate for her to come back.

Ans- Most people keep dogs and cats as pets. Some unusual pets that people keep are ants, hedgehogs, skunk, tarantula spiders.

 

2. The second bear did not attack the lady because he was afraid of her. Do you agree?

Ans- The bear was not afraid of the lady. He did not attack her because he loved his mistress who brought him up like her own baby.
