a. What is sound?
Ans- Sound is a form of energy which is
produced as a result of vibration.
b. What are warning sounds?
Ans- The sounds that are used to alert people
of an emergency or danger are called as warning sound.
Example- Police siren, siren of fire engine
2. What does the following sound help for?
a. Fire alarm
It warns people to exit the building on time in
case of fire.
b. Ambulance siren
It alerts people to give way to the vehicle on
the road so that it reaches the patient or transfers the patient to the
hospital.
3. Give reasons for the following.
a. Loud speakers should be avoided at night.
Ans- Loud speakers should be avoided at night
because the loud sound causes hampered sleep, irritation, stress etc. among
people.
b. Industries should be built away from the
residential areas.
Ans- Prolonged exposure to the noise from
industries causes many health issues like hearing loss, high blood pressure and
hypertension among the residents living nearby. Therefore, industries should be
built away from the residential areas.
c. Vehicles should be kept in good working
condition.

condition so that there is minimal noise from them.
