Glossary

Glad -  happyप्रसन्न

Moss-  very small green plants usually found on damp walls and stones काई

Lie- to be in a flat or horizontal position आड़ा पड़ा होना

Forest -  jungle वन

Grass -  a common small wild plant with narrow green leaves घास

Sea -  the salt water body that covers most of the earth's surface सागर

Stoop -  to bend the body forward and downward  झुकना

Snow-  soft, white pieces of frozen water बर्फ

Puddle -  a small amount of water collected on the ground डबरा

Freeze -  turn to ice जमना

Tall -  having greater than average height लंबा

High -  long way above the ground उच्च

Tree -  a tall plant that can live a long time  वृक्ष 

 

Summary/ Central idea

 

Children are happy because they are nearer to nature than the grown ups. They can see small things in nature and enjoy them; but at times of difficulty They wish they were grown ups.

 

Or

 

Being a child has its own advantages. Children see many things in nature differently because of their small height. It is only at difficult times they feel that they should be tall like grown ups.

Ans- They walk a long way off to the sea beach.

 

Q.5 What does the child wish in winter?

Ans- In winter, the child wishes to be very tall, high above the trees.

         1) In summer I am very glad,

          We children are so small,

         And all the stones they pass,

         High up above the trees.
