a.             Answer the following questions.

Q.1 What is a wrapper?

Ans- A wrapper is the piece of paper or plastic which covers a product.

 

Q.2 What information is usually given on a wrapper?

Ans- Following information is usually given on a wrapper:

1-  Net weight of the product

2- M.R.P.

3-  date of packing

4-  date of expiry

5-  ingredients

6-   manufactured by

7-  whether the food is vegetarian or it contains some non-veg ingredients

 

Q.3 How do you know the date of manufacturing?

Ans- We can read the date of manufacturing on the wrapper. It is printed as PKD/ Mfg. Date.

 

Q.4 Should we use an edible item after the date of expiry?

Ans- No, we should not use an edible item after the date of expiry as it is not safe to eat after this date.

 

Q.5 Where is the expiry date printed?

Ans- The expiry date is printed on the wrapper after the date of manufacturing.

 

Q.6 What does the ‘green circle’ in the square indicate?

Ans- The ‘green circle’ in the square indicates that the food is vegetarian.

 

Q.7 What is the red circle in the square meant for?

Ans- The red circle in the square meant for some non-veg. Ingredient in the food.

 

Q.8 If you are a vegetarian what should you look at the wrapper?

Ans- If I am a vegetarian, I should look for ‘the green circle in the square’ at the wrapper.

Q.5 Does it contain glucose?

Ans- No, it doesn’t contain glucose.

 

Q.6 Should it be used in the month of December 2016?

Ans- Yes, it can be used in the month of December 2016 as M.F.D/PKD is 05/2006 and this product is best within 2 years of this date.

 

Q.7 Is it for vegetarians?

Ans- Yes, it is for vegetarians.

 

Q.8 How do you know that it is made of vegetable ingredients?

Ans- The symbol of ‘green circle in the square’ on the wrapper indicates that it is made of vegetable ingredients.

 

Q.9 Is it iodised?

Ans- By looking at the list of ingredients, we can say that it is iodised.

 

Q.10 Who is the manufacturer of this product?

Ans- Kittii Sodium Chloro Limited, Gujarat is the manufacturer of this product.

 

Grammar in Use

 

a) Study the following sentences

Let’s write

 

Write about the information one can get by looking at a wrapper.

Ans- By looking at the wrapper, we can get information about the name of the product, its price, when it was packed, weight of the product, list of ingredients, PKD/MFD, whether it has vegetarian ingredients or it contains some non-veg ingredients. We can also get the information about the manufacturer of the product from the wrapper.
