little drops of rain -  rain falling in the form of shower बारिश की बूँदे

won't let me walk -  won’t allow to go out

bricks -  plastic or wooden blocks used as a toy for young children to play with ईंटे

I’ve nothing else to do -  the child is unable to do anything

windowpane -  a piece of glass in a window खिड़की का शीशा /  फलक

 

Central Idea

 The child in the poem is not able to play outside because it is raining. 

 

Summary

This simple poem expresses the feelings of a child who is standing at the window,  looking out and complaining about the restrictions imposed on him because of rain.

(A) Answer the following questions.

Q.1 What is the child asking the raindrops in the first stanza?

Ans-  In the first stanza, the child is asking the raindrops where they have come from.

 

Q.2 How Do the raindrops fall?

Ans-  The raindrops fall pitter-patter, pitter-patter.

 

Q.3 Where is the child standing?

Ans- The child is standing at the window.

 

Q.4 What does the child want to do?

Ans- The child wants to play outside.

 

Q.5 What happened to his playthings?

Ans- His parents have put away his playthings because he broke them all.

 

Q.6 ‘They say, ‘I’m very naughty,’. Who is the child speaking about in this line?

Ans- ‘They say, ‘I’m very naughty,’. In this line, the child is speaking about his parents. 

 

Q.7 ‘But I’ve nothing else to do,’ What feeling of the child is expressed through this line?

Ans- ‘But I’ve nothing else to do,’ Through this line boredom of the child is expressed.

 

Q.8 What do the rain drops do?

Ans- The raindrops play outside.
