Glossary

 End-  the final part, finish अंत /   समाप्ति

 Reason -  cause for something that has happened कारण

 Important -  of great value महत्वपूर्ण

 Help -  to make easier or possible for somebody to do  मदद

 Reply -  to say or write something as an answer उत्तर /  जवाब

 Lazy -  unwilling to work,  doing as little as possible  अलसी

 Idea -  thought,  plan or suggestion  विचार/ योजना/ अवधारणा

 Angry -  having strong feeling about something that you dislike very much  क्रोधित

 Among -  surrounded by,  in the middle of  के बीच में

 Mistake -  an action or an opinion that is not correct  गलती /  त्रुटि

 Foolish -  not showing good sense or judgement  मूर्खतापूर्ण

 Ashamed -  feeling shame or embarrassment   लज्जित / शर्मिंदा

a) Answer the following questions.

Ans- Hands grow food and take it to the mouth.

 

Q.2 What is the importance of face for the body?

Ans- Face has eyes to see, ears to hear and nose to smell. It also makes a person look beautiful.

 

Q.3 How do the eyes help the body?

Ans- Eyes help the body to see the world around.

 

Q.4 Which organ of the body is helpful for walking?

Ans- Legs are helpful for walking.

 

b) Write ‘true’ or ‘false’

1) We walk on hands. (False)

2) We listen with ears. (True)

3) Nose is necessary to smell. (True)

4) Stomach is an important part for the body. (True)

5) Face is the most beautiful part of the body. (True)

 

c) Correct the false statements and rewrite.

1) The other parts of the body were happy with the stomach at first.

Ans- The other parts of the body were unhappy with the stomach at first.

 

2) All the other parts said that the stomach is the most hard working part of the body.

Ans- All the other parts said that the stomach is the most lazy part of the body.

a) Read these sentences

We can say these sentences together as:

My teeth are as white as milk.

b) Read these sentences.

We can write these sentences as-

Stone is heavier than wood.

 

Put together the following sentences in the same way.

1) Apples are sweet.

    Mangoes are sweeter.

Ans- Mangoes are sweeter than apple.

 

2) Ramesh is clever.

    Suresh is cleverer.

Ans- Suresh is cleverer than Ramesh.

 

3) This ball is big.

    My football is bigger.

Ans- My football is bigger than this ball.

 

4) John is tall.

    Marry is taller.

Ans- Mary is taller than John.

 

5) My dog is small.

    My cat is smaller.

Ans- My cat is smaller than my dog.

 

c) Read these sentences.

A. Mahesh is the tallest boy in the class.

B. Mahesh is taller than all other boys in the class.

 

Now say the following sentences as in B above.

1.    The Ganga is the biggest river in India.

The Ganga is bigger than all other rivers.

 

2.    Rajasthan is the largest state in India.

Rajasthan is larger than all other states.

 

3.    The peacock is the most beautiful bird.

The peacock is more beautiful than other birds.

 

4.    Shyam is the youngest of all the brothers.

Shyam is younger than all the brothers.

 

5.    The Himalayas are the highest mountains in the world.

The Himalayas are higher than all other mountains in the world.

Let’s Write

    a)   Write five sentences about the parts of your body.

1)   There are several parts in our body, each has a unique function.

2)   Hands help us to work and take food to mouth.

3)   Legs carry our body.

4)   Face is the most beautiful part. It has eyes, ears, and nose.

5)   Stomach is important for digesting the food we eat.

 

    b)  Write the importance of stomach in your body.

Stomach is the most important part of our body. It digests the food that we eat. We get energy and nutrition from food. If stomach doesn’t work properly, we will become weaker day by day.
