More About Subject

There are three common terms related to subjects;
1-  Complete Subject
2-  Simple Subject
3-  Compound Subject

1- Complete Subject
The complete subject of a sentence includes all the words that tell who or what the sentence is about.
Example:
The old chef puts a lot of garlic in his recipe.

2- Simple Subject-
The simple subject is the main word or words in the complete subject.
Example:
The chef puts a lot of garlic in his recipe.

3- Compound Subject
A compound subject contains two or more subjects that have the same predicate. The simple subjects in a compound subject are usually joined by and or or.
Example:
The old chef and his subordinates put a lot of garlic in the soup.

Ways a subject appears in the sentence-

1.    Subject Performs an Action
Example - My mother cares for the family.

     2.   Subject is Described
Example - My mother is very caring.

     3.  Subject is Identified
Example- My mother is the one in the middle.

     4.  Subject has an Action Done on it
Example- My mother has been awarded with the title of The Best Cook.

Underline the compound subject in each sentence and circle the verb.
