Q. Why did the Indians want the British to leave their country?
Ans- British came to India to trade. Some of them stayed back,   took away land of farmers, kingdom from kings and started to rule the country. They trouble the Indians and made unfair laws.  Therefore, Indians wanted the British to leave their country.

Q. How are Independence Day and Republic Day celebrated in school?
Ans- On Independence Day and Republic Day, the national flag is unfurled in our school. We sing the national anthem, which is followed by cultural programs  by students.

Q. Why is January 26 an important date in Indian calendar?
Ans- After we got freedom, we no longer had to follow the laws made by the British.  Indian leaders such as Dr Ambedkar,  Dr Rajendra Prasad,  Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru,  Vallabhbhai Patel and Maulana Azad wrote a book of laws called the constitution.  The book was adopted on January 26, 1950.  We celebrate Republic Day on this date every year.

Q. List five qualities of a good citizen.
Ans- Following are the qualities of a good citizen:
  1- Follow rules and laws
  2- Be a good neighbour
  3- Protect the environment
  4- Respect the rights of others
  5- Be informed about the world around you.

Q. What do you understand by the word ‘citizen’?
Ans-  A citizen is a member of a group that belongs to a place.
 He or she may be a part of a small community such as a classroom or a large community such a city or state or country.

Q. What is a responsibility?
Ans- Responsibility is a duty or something we do. For example-   in our society we follow rules, help others and keep the neoghbourhood clean.

Q. How do you show respect towards our National Anthem and National Song?
Ans- To respect our National Anthem and National Song we must-
1.    Learn them and sing them with sincerity.
2.    Stand in attention when we hear them or sing them.

With the help of elders, we can install community refrigerators where people can leave the extra food and those who need can take food from there. This will also reduce food waste world-wide.
