Read the following passage carefully:

Once upon a time an old man had three sons. They always quarreled with each other. The old man said to them to be united but they did not listen to him. One day he gave them a bundle of sticks and asked them to break it. They tried but could not do so. The he asked to break the sticks on by one. They easily broke th sticks. Thus they learnt the lesson that “unity is strength”

Now answer the following questions:
(i)       What did the old man say to his three sons?
Ans- The old man asked them to be united.

(ii)      What did the old man give them one day?
Ans- The old man give them a bundle of sticks one day.

(iii)     Could they break the bundle of sticks?
Ans- No, they could not break the bundle of sticks.

Ans- They learnt the lesson that “Unity is Strength”.
