A Sailor's Story - I

Fill in the blanks with the words given:

Answer the following questions:

Ans- Sailor’s grand father looked after the family business.

Ans- The merchants were taking spices, sheep skin, peacock feather and bundles of silk.

  1. What broke the ship?
Ans- A very big wave hit the ship and broke it.

  1. What saved the sailor’s life?
Ans- A piece of wood saved the sailor’s life.

  1. The sailor reached the dry ground. What did he do then?
Ans-  The sailor reached the dry ground. He lied down on the ground and fell asleep.

Preposition-
A preposition is a word that shows the relation between a noun or a pronoun and some other words in the sentence.

Example-

He did not send me to school.
He taught me at school.
There were ships from China, Persia and many other countries.
They were loading their ships with spices and ship skin etc.

Look at the pictures and fill in the blanks with “in, on, under, in front of, behind”:

  1. The pen is in the inkpot.
  2. The cat is under the chair.
  3. The book is under the table.
  4. The jug is under the table.
  5. The glass is behind the bag.

Look at the pictures and complete the sentence with ‘behind’ or ‘in front of’:

Describe the qualities of Sailor’s grandfather in about five sentences:

  2. He was am able man.
  3. He was a very hard working man.
  4. He never took a holiday.
  5. He loved his grand son very much.
