 One day two ghee merchants named Govind and Krishan came to Akbar. Govind had a complain against krishan. Govind said, “Sir, I lent a large amount of money to Krishan, but he didn’t return it.” Krishan said, “Sir, I didn’t borrow any money from Govind.”

Akbar said, “Come to me after a week. I will give my judgement then, The merchants went away.

Then Akbar called Birbal and asked him to find out the truth.

Next day Birbal gave a tin of ghee to each merchant. There was a gold coin inside each tin. He asked him to sell it and pay back the money they get after selling it.

The merchant named Govind came to Birbal and gave back a gold coin. Thus Birbal decided that who has told a lie. And thus Birbal found out who the dishonest person was.

Answer the following questions:

Ans- The complaint was that six months ago Krishan Seth borrowed thousand silver coins from Govind Seth but later he denied about it.

Ans- No, Akbar was not able to find out the truth.

Ans- Birbal gave a tin of ghee to each merchant.

Ans- Each of them sold the ghee.

Ans- Govind Seth paid thirty rupees and a gold coin to Birbal.


  1. How much did Krishan Seth pay to Birbal?
Ans- Krishan Seth paid twenty rupees to Birbal.

Ans- Krishan Seth did two dishonest things; they were:
1)    Krishan Seth sold 30 kg ghee but paid for only 25 kg.
2)    He also did not return the gold coin.
