Q. What things are soaked before cooking in your house? Why?
Ans- Following things are soaked before cooking in my house:
1-    Rice and dal for lesser cooking time.
2-    Whole grains for germination into sprouts.


Q. What things do you eat after sprouting? How are they sprouted?
Ans- We eat whole grains like horse gram, green gram, chick pea etc. after sprouting.
        They are sprouted by
1-        Soaking overnight.
2-        Hanging them tied in wet cloth.

Q. Why should we eat sprouts?
Ans- We should eat sprouts as they are packed with vitamins and minerals and they provide many health benefits.

Q. Why did Gopal’s mother tie the chana in a damp cloth?
Ans- Gopal’s mother tied chana in a damp cloth for making sprouts.

Q. When you split the whole masoor, you get masoor dal. But you can not sprout it. Can you think why?
                                              Or
We can not sprout masoor dal. Why?

Ans-  We can not sprout dal because split dal does not have bud (epicotyl/hypocotyl) which sprouts in presence of water and air and suitable temperature.

Q. How do seeds spread to far off places?
Ans- Seeds spread to far off places by following ways:
1-    Air
2-    Water
3-    Birds
4-    Animals
5-    Humans for farming

Q. How do the soyabean seeds spread?
Ans- When the soyabean pods are ripe, they burst and seeds are thrown out.

Ans- Names of some seeds that can fly are as follows:
1-    Dandelion seeds
2-    Swan plant seeds
3-    Cotton wood seeds
4-    Kauri
5-    Maple tree seeds
