Q. Why was Nitu given glucose drip?
Ans- Nitu’s body had become very weak and it was not keeping
any food or water. Doctor aunty gave her the glucose drip so that she can gain
some strength quickly, even without eating.
Q. Nitu’s teacher used to tell the girls to have glucose
while playing hockey. Why do you think she did this?
Ans- Glucose provides instant energy and a lot of energy is
exhausted while playing hockey. Therefore, Nitu’s teacher used to tell girls to
have glucose while playing hockey.
Q. Have you tasted glucose? How does it taste?
Ans- Yes, I have tasted glucose in games period. It is sweet
in taste.
Q. What do you understand by proper food?
Ans- Proper food means a nutritious food in sufficient
amount as per the need of a person.
Q. Why can you not taste food properly when you have a cold?
Ans- Our sense of smell and taste are interlinked. During
cold our nose (nasal passage) is blocked and we do not get the aroma (flavor)
of food. Therefore, we can not taste food properly when we have a cold.
Q. If we were to say that “digestion begins in the mouth”,
how would you explain this. Write.
Ans- In mouth, our food is mixed with a fluid called saliva.
Saliva moistens, softens our food and breaks carbohydrates. Therefore, digestion of food begins in the
mouth.
